Who Am I?

Thank you for allowing me a few minutes of your valued time to introduce myself. In this summary paragraph I will describe how my unique skills and experience align with serving your organization’s executive, operations, management and agile teams. My resume speaks to the 25+ years I have spent in roles ranging from PM to VP. With years of proven agile experience I am working in my strength when facilitating organizational and process agility workshop training. I am dedicated to mentoring Agile Scrum and Kanban teams, value-driven delivery, adaptive planning techniques and cultivating collaboration with customers within the organization and teams. As we work together to raise your agility, it is my desire to create a safe environment for meaningful collaboration and healthy conflict resolution resulting in the increased delivery of business value and customer satisfaction.

Teaching and Mentoring Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and teams through Interactive Workshops and Organizational Alignment.

Responsible for all aspects of the training and consulting curricula, including:

  • Creating and presenting training materials
  • Facilitating interactive workshops
  • Working with clients to identify training roadmaps and process needs
  • Guiding clients on their journey to an Agile Mindset and sustainable Agile Transition

AGILE and LEADERSHIP TRAINING / WORKSHOPS – You may be engaged in an Agile Adoption at your organization and asking yourself if you are reaching the potential as advertised. An Agile Mindset is the key to BEING agile, resulting in sustainable agility manifested through people, not process. Are you providing the level of leadership to enable your teams to reach their potential. Is your organization buying into the vision … or, do they need to buy into you as a leader first? Do your staff members need to move from Managers to Leaders? Do your product managers and directors/managers have actionable items prioritized to serve their teams success? Are they removing impediments to increase product flow?

I am an Agile Coach and experienced trainer qualified to ensure that the cultural and process challenges inherent in “being” agile are correctly addressed through an agile mindset and iterative frameworks. Pre-Agile experience includes VP of Operations, Director of Product Development, General Manager and small business owner.

Some of my highlights

I am driven by values and principles and do my best to live by example. Top of my list is connecting with people by listening and believing they have value. I believe no one really cares what you know, until they know that you care. Adding value to others is the key to coaching them to reach their full potential.
The question isn’t whether teams have value. The question is whether we will acknowledge that fact and become better team members. That’s why I assert that one is too small a number to achieve greatness. We can accomplish so much more together than we ever could alone. All team members have a place where they add the most value. Coaching others to find and live in their strengths is essential to teambuilding and when accomplished there is no limit to what they can accomplish.
I am a life-long learner passionate about the agile mindset and leadership ability. My extensive Agile experience has opened my eyes to the balance between process frameworks and leadership ability allowing me to be very effective in creating sustainable positive organizational change. To support this alignment I am a certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach, Speaker and Teacher.

In closing I look forward to hearing your story and learning how I may add value serving alongside the team in the journey to reach the organization’s full potential.

What clients are saying…

Thomas is one of the most versatile Agile Coaches I’ve ever met, and I do not say that lightly. I enjoyed working with and learning from Thomas as a fellow Enterprise Agile Coach at Cigna. He is an excellent instructor, as I learned while sitting in on some of his training. He also has a keen mind with the ability to see the nuances of a situation or a concept. Some coaches fixate on one position or perspective. Thomas constantly demonstrated the rare ability to look at all sides of a situation and bring clarity through patience and questioning. I’m looking forward to working with him again and sharing a beer over dinner.
Peter Jessen SPC4, PMP, CSM, Enterprise Solutions Architect and SAFe Coach at AgileCraft AgileCraft - Austin, TX , AgileCraft
I worked with Thomas on a complex SAFe Adoption. We were two of about 15 coaches. Thomas stood out amongst the other coaches as a strong change agent. He was quick to share opinions, take on work, provide assets, lead sessions as well as lead the teams he was assigned to, while our peers stood quiet and avoided leadership tasks and topics. I recommend Thomas as an Enterprise Coach without hesitation and know you will be pleased with his performance and results.
Anthony Crain, Agile Transformation Lead at Blue Agility Cigna - Hartford, CT, Cigna
Over the past several months I've been fortunate to work with Thomas, and have benefited greatly from his insights. Thomas is a fantastic coach and has deep knowledge and passion for Agile framework and implementing it correctly. Thomas was very persistent, passionate, collaborative, and patient. Furthermore, he was able to adapt his teaching and coaching methods to an individual's scrum knowledge/skill level. He nudged and pushed the teams when necessary. Throughout the transformation process, Thomas would share additional Agile techniques to further our knowledge. With his passion and persistence, he was able to successfully lead the teams the road of Agile transformation. I would highly recommend Thomas to any organization looking to transform or even optimize their approach to Agile development.
Samir Ashar, Director IT Product Management Fidelity Investments - Westlake, TX, Fidelity Investments
It is refreshing to work with people who are always willing collaborate and who have a positive outlook on challenges. I had the pleasure of working with Thomas during an agile transformation at Cigna. Thomas is always approachable and willing to help the customer or his team. Thomas would be an asset to any team.
Jorge Montoya, SPC, CSP, Engagement Manager Cigna - Hartford, CT, Cigna
Thomas knows agile and scrum inside and out. He has a great bedside manner with people to help bring them along through a very difficult, but ultimately rewarding journey. One of his best qualities is the ability to simple say the things that need to be said, tactfully, but directly. Sounds easy but requires courage, strength and respect for the people he works with. Thomas will perform equally well at the enterprise or team level, with a great grasp of the SAFe framework. I highly recommend him and would happily work with him again.
Jamie Mades, SPC4, CSM, PMP, SAFe Enterprise Agile Portfolio Coach and Consultant Cigna - Hartford, CT, Cigna
I worked with Thomas as an agile coach and found him knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics - general agile principles, Scrum, and Kanban in particular - and passionate about sharing his love for and appreciation of agile with others. He is adept and taking difficult ideas and simplifying them via any number of analogies and is adept at virtual training, a difficult skill to master. He is incredibly personable and likable and very easy to get along with, even in chaotic and disjointed environments that cause stress in others. Thomas was willing to pick up whatever work needed to be done and run with it, making him a valuable addition to any team. I highly recommend Thomas as one of the thought leaders in the agile space and know he would make a valuable addition to any group.
Bill DeVoe, CSP, SPC4, Agile coach, trainer, speaker, and consultant Cigna - Hartford, CT, Cigna
Thomas is a great team leader, mentor and trainer. Great knowledge of Agile and awesome at making Agile enjoyable. He's an overall great guy to know and work with and someone I highly recommend.
Ray Freeman, Business Solutions through Agile Focused Technology American Airlines - Dallas Fort Worth, TX, American Airlines
Thomas has been an outstanding Agile Coach with our clients. Within a ten week period, I have seen him take teams that have essentially no knowledge of Agile to able to deliver "done" software every two weeks.
David Gijsbers, Director of Business Development (North East US) Eliassen Group - Boston, MA, Eliassen
Thomas has been an amazing coach at our company. Not only did he provide expert guidance in comprehending the Agile methodology, he brought our project back on track using his exceptional skills in Agile. Would recommend him to any vendor looking to become an Agile shop in short period of time. Thank you Thomas!
Mustafa Semerkant, Senior Manager, Mobile QA WebMD - New York, NY, WebMD
Thomas introduced me to the exciting Agile development methodologies and the broader movement taking place in the software development world to increase productivity, efficiency and speed to market. Thomas is an expert at leading change, developing people, and collaborating with onshore and offshore teams to maximize value. I highly recommend Thomas to any company that needs to engage Agile, mature their process and/or teams and develop offshore resources.
